What’s Your Excuse?

February 23, 2016 - Blog -

So here’s the deal. Baptism is this Sunday. And I know there are a lot of folks out there who have never been baptized. In your heart, you want to, but let’s be honest….You’ve got a TON of excuses..

When it comes to baptism, is it possible that ANY of these are your excuse?

#1…you already know all the Biblical reasons why you should get baptized but you’ve just been too stubborn to take the step?

#2…you are so concerned about what other people (family, friends, etc) are going to think of you that you’ve talked yourself out of baptism every time there is an opportunity?

#3…you were baptized as an infant, and you know that’s not Biblical, but you are afraid that if you make the decision to get baptized as an adult that your mom and dad will think differently of you?

#4…even though you’ve felt God leading you in your heart, you’ve constructed a theological argument that helps you feel better about your disobedience?

#5…you are just afraid to do it in front of people? (May I remind you that Jesus died publicly on a cross? The same courage Jesus had that day is available to you through the Holy Spirit today. Take the step.)

#6…every time baptism comes around, you say “I’ll do it next time.” Which next time are you thinking is the right time? Because I’m pretty sure this Sunday is the next time 🙂

#7…you’ve been faking your walk with God all along and getting baptized is intimidating because it forces you to really face the music and get serious about your faith? If this is the case, I say you need to accept Jesus as your savior, for real, and then get in the water.

If ANY of these are your excuse, it doesn’t have to be any longer.
